Andrew Abokhair focuses his practice on intellectual property and commercial transactions. He has served as a trusted counsel to technology start-ups as well as established corporations, offering insight on aspects such as licensing, intellectual property acquisition and litigation, technology transactions, funding strategies, and more.

Prior to joining Kastner Gravelle LLP, Andrew practiced in the Intellectual Property Disputes and Intellectual Property Transactions groups at the Houston office of Baker & Hostetler LLP. Prior to private practice, Andrew served as counsel in the Intellectual Property and Operations Groups of a Fortune 500 petrochemical company. 

Andrew received his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School. He received an M.Sc. in Law & Finance from the University of Oxford and a B.S. in Pre-Medicine from George Washington University.

Mike Baker is the managing member of Baker Tax Law, LLC, a tax firm with which Kastner Gravelle LLP frequently works. Mike is a tax lawyer who assists clients over the lifecycle of their business. He frequently advises regarding choice of entity, conversion between entity types, tax-free reorganizations and taxable exit transactions. Additional areas of expertise include qualified small business stock, equity compensation, tax code Section 83(b) elections, phantom equity, deferred compensation, and tax code Section 280G.  Mike has represented clients in over 250 M&A transactions, including transactions with consideration in excess of a billion dollars.

Mike taught individual income tax and corporate tax at Utah Valley University from 2015-2016 and employee benefits and compensation law at the University of Colorado Law School from 2013-2014.

Prior to founding Baker Tax Law, LLC, Mike spent a decade as a tax attorney in the Broomfield, Colorado office of Cooley LLP, and a compensation and benefits attorney in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P. C.  Mike was recognized as a Rising Star in 2016 by Super Lawyers.

Prior to attending law school, Mike interned for the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked as an auditor in the small business and self-employed division.

Mike received his law degree from Cornell Law School.  He received a B.S. in Accounting, magna cum laude from Utah State University, where he was the recipient of the business school’s Ernst & Young Scholarship.

Marcie has over 18 years of experience working as a corporate paralegal, assisting attorneys and clients with venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, IPO’s and general corporate matters. Prior to joining Kastner Gravelle LLP, Marcie spent time as an in-house paralegal at Bazaarvoice, Inc. and as a corporate paralegal at the Austin offices of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC and Gunderson Dettmer, as well as the Dallas offices of Hughes & Luce, LLP and Patton Boggs, LLP. Marcie attended the University of North Texas in Denton, TX and holds a paralegal certificate.

Adam is a global IP and commercial transactions attorney, who has served for over 20 years as the primary software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, data analytics, privacy, and professional services expert for startups and Fortune 500 companies. 

Prior to joining Kastner Gravelle, Adam was Associate General Counsel of Workday, leading the optimization of their go to market legal strategy, globally across all verticals and business segments.  Prior to Workday, Adam was Associate General Counsel at Twitter, managing a team of attorneys who supported data licensing and analytics, business development, strategic alliances, online commerce, and sourcing. Prior to Twitter, Adam was Legal Director at Dell, driving the creation of their outbound software licensing strategy.  Adam also has experience as General Counsel of an Austin startup, and in supporting professional and managed services engagements from his time at Dell, CSC, and Accenture.

Adam received his law degree from The Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Indiana University.

CLara Chalk

Clara Chalk's practice focuses on the representation of entrepreneurs, emerging growth companies, and investors.  She counsels companies on a range of corporate and securities matters, including corporate formation, debt and equity financings, and mergers and acquisitions.

Aysha Doman

Aysha counsels employers on a broad range of employment matters such as employment contracts, employee and contractor classification, wage and hour matters, employment policies, terminations, and employee disputes.  In the merger and acquisition context, Aysha has considerable experience evaluating and minimizing employment-related risks, and assisting with employee transitioning and restructuring.

Prior to joining Kastner Gravelle LLP, Aysha practiced employment law in the Austin office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C.

Aysha received her J.D. from Harvard Law School.  She graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in statistics.  Prior to law school, Aysha worked for two years as an economic consultant advising clients on a range of issues including securities and investment matters, intellectual property, and business torts.

Jerry Galvan

Jerry Galvan’s practice focuses on representing entrepreneurs, companies, private equity firms and venture capital firms in debt and equity financings, acquisitions and sales, corporate formations, general corporate and securities matters, commercial transactions and licensing matters.

Jerry began his career as a corporate attorney in the Austin, Texas office of Vinson & Elkins, LLP.

Jerry graduated with High Honors from the University of Texas School of Law where he was a member of the Texas Law Review and recipient of the Dean’s Achievement Award.  Jerry was also elected to the Order of the Coif upon graduation.  As a student in the Business Honors Program, Jerry received a B.B.A. with honors from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business with an emphasis on Management Information Systems.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Jerry worked as Manager of Professional Services at Sungard Energy Systems where he directed project teams and developed code for energy trading software programs.

Ryan Gravelle

Ryan Gravelle is an experienced attorney with extensive experience in private practice and as an in-house legal executive. Most recently as SVP and General Counsel for nGenera Corporation, a collaboration software company named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the 2010 top 50 VC-backed companies in the US, Ryan managed multiple mergers, acquisitions and asset transactions, helped raise tens of millions of dollars in debt and equity financing, and structured complex strategic alliances and partnerships. As general counsel, Ryan was responsible for legal activities across the company, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships and alliances including OEM, VAR and joint venture agreements, commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment and human resource issues and IP portfolio licensing and protection. Ryan also has broad experience with social media issues and open IP platforms.

Prior to nGenera, Ryan was on Dell Inc.’s legal team, where he supported Dell’s professional services business segment, and spent several years with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., a Palo Alto-based law firm specializing in representation of technology companies. He sits on the board of directors of the Austin Parks Foundation and is a member of the steering committee of the Austin Chapter of the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, and he previously served as a director for the Austin Music Foundation, as well as a member of the technology committee of the Texas Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission.

Ryan received his law degree from The University of Virginia School of Law. He received a B.A. in English and Political Science from Rice University.

Prior to co-founding Kastner Gravelle LLP, Evan was a corporate attorney in the Austin, Texas office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P. C. and the Broomfield, Colorado office of Cooley LLP.

Prior to attending law school, Evan was a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he advised clients in the technology and manufacturing industries.

Evan received his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with Honors, Order of the Coif and a Dean’s Achievement Award.  He received a B.S. in Management Science and Mathematics (Concentration in Operations Research) from Southern Methodist University, where he was a J. She has an extensive IT support background from working at Geek Squad and Apple. In her spare time, she runs a side baking business and takes many baking classes to learn new techniques.
